The EPOS community mourns the passing of Paolo Gasparini

In the morning of the 28th of July, 2016, Paolo Gasparini, Emeritus Professor at University Federico II of Naples (Italy), passed away. It is a loss for EPOS and the scientific  community in Europe and beyond.

EPOS in the Group of European Data Experts, GEDE in Research Data Alliance (RDA)

RDA is creating a European group of data experts (GEDE) inviting all the European infrastructures, various research and e-Infrastructures and European co-chairs of Research Data Alliance (RDA) Groups to actively join and contribute to it. EPOS is going to nominate a representative.

The joint proposal by the United Kingdom, France and Denmark has received the highest overall rank from the BGR for hosting the EPOS ICS-C

The EPOS Board of Governmental Representatives, taking into account the discussions that occurred during the last meeting in Lisbon and the comments of external evaluators collected by the Call Secretariat, has evaluated the three proposals submitted to select the country that will host the Central Hub of EPOS Integrated Core Services (ICS-C) and announced that the joint proposal by UK, France and Denmark received the highest overall rank and has been selected.

EPOS WP 15 meeting in Dublin - 20-21 June 2016

On June 20 - 21, 2016, WP15 (EPOS-TCS Geological information and modelling) held a meeting in Dublin, parallel to the OGC/Technical Committee.

WP15 members reviewed various overarching topics: legal, governance and financial issues, cross TC harmonization, links between EGDI and EPOS initiatives.

EPOS @ VRE4EIC meeting in Delft, Netherlands

EPOS is participating to the Europe-wide Interoperable Virtual Research Environment to Empower Multidisciplinary Research Communities and Accelerate Innovation and Collaboration project (VRE4EIC) meeting holds in Delft, Netherlands the 14th and 15th June 2016.

EPOS @ CRIS2016 conference

The 13th International Conference on Current Research Information Systems (CRIS2016) : Communicating and measuring research responsibly: profiling, metrics, impact, interoperability will be held in the ancient Scottish city of St Andrews under the patronage of the University of St Andrews, UK, from 8th to  the 11th June, 2016. A member of the EPOS IT team (WP6-7) will attend the meeting presenting a paper titled: Mapping solid earth Data and Research Infrastructures to CERIF

EPOS IP fifth Project Development Board meeting in Potsdam

The EPOS-IP Project Development Board members for 3 days (May 30 – 31 and June 1 2016) meet at the GFZ headquarters of Potsdam in Germany to discuss and  elaborate a common understanding of the EPOS architecture from technical, legal & governance, and financial point of view. 

A delegation of National Contact Points for the EU Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for R&I - SC5 @ the INGV in Rome

Today, 26th May 2016 a delegation of National Contact Points "NCPs" for the EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation framework programme , part of the Societal Challenge SC5: 'Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials' is visiting the INGV headquarters in Rome.

EPOS WP6 & WP7 IT team meeting just ended in Bergen

The WP6 & WP7 IT team last 23-25 May 2016 met at the Department of Earth Science of the University of Bergen to discuss on EPOS IP Requirements and Use Cases (RUC) and on WP6 & WP7 future actions. The next IT-team meeting probably will be held during the IPC meeting in October. More details will be communicated accordingly.
