The "Strong motion site characterization" workshop is organized within the framework of the Network Activity NA5 "Networking databases of site and station characterization" of the SERA (Seismology and Earthquake Engineering Research Infrastructure Alliance for Europe) EU project.
It will take place the 11th and 12th of March 2019 in L'Aquila, Italy at the Sala Ipogea; Palazzo Emiciclo in downtown L'Aquila, in proximity of Villa Comunale.
The workshop is devoted to the proposition of guidelines and recommendations for best practice procedures of site-effects characterization at the seismic strong motion stations, in terms of indicators and quality metrics. Moreover, it will discuss the road map for strong motion site characterization in Europe within the next 10 years.
Scientists and practitioners in geophysics, engineering seismology and geotechnical engineering, building code experts as well as network operators will discuss on the state of the art of site characterization at seismic stations and on the guideline propositions.
All topics are related to the SERA and EPOS activities on connecting infrastructures and communities in the field of site characterization.
Additionally, a training course on Ambient Vibration Techniques for Site Characterization and an open workshop on recent advanced techniques for site characterization will be held the week before the workshop, respectively the 4-9 March 2019 and the 9-10 March 2019.
These events will be held in the same location as the SERA workshop.
