The American Geophysical Union (AGU) 2018 Fall Meeting took place this year, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC 20001, (USA) the 10-14 December 2018.
EPOS members form the IT team presented the EPOS WP6/WP7 works:
- Rossana Paciello (INGV), presented the e-lighting talk "EPOS-DCAT-AP: a DCAT Application Profile for solid-Earth sciences" that focused on application profile that extends the DCAT model with additional entities and relationships: EPOS-DCAT-AP.
- Valerio Vinciarelli (INGV), presented "Integrated Computing in solid Earth sciences: the case of EPOS Integrated Core Services Distributed Infrastructures", that dealt with the various approaches for the integration of processing functionalities within the ICS-C system
- Daniele Bailo (INGV), presented the poster "Integrating Datasets and Services in the Solid Earth Domain: the EPOS case." in order to show and explain the architecture "behind the scenes" of ICS-C system.
Presentations and posters raised much interest, mostly from international stakeholders and from the community working on FAIR principles. Fruitful discussions have been done with the EarthCube community representative, who showed interest in understanding EPOS architecture and metadata structure. Also, DOI and in general Persistent Identifiers communities (e.g. DataCite) where interested in understanding requirements from earth Sciences communities for assigning persistent identifiers to datasets rather than just to publications. In general, every stakeholder was interested about knowing requirements and best practices by representatives of the earth Sciences community data practitioners.
