EPOS will participate at the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2016 that will be held in the city of Vienna, Austria, 17–22 April 2016. EPOS will lead a session on Integrated Research Infrastructures and Services in Geosciences (SM7.1) scheduled on April 20, 2016. An EPOS Splinter Meeting is also scheduled on April 21, 2016 at 17.30. EPOS visibility throughout the event will furthermore be ensured through the dedicated exhibit booth (G14 and 15). We invite the EGU conference delegates to visit the booth asking about EPOS initiatives, goals and activities. We will distribute information folders to visitors, but also EPOS nice gadgets.
Please note that Session SM7.1 Integrated Research Infrastructures and Services in Geosciencesis scheduled for the following time blocks:

The goal of EPOS session is to discuss the integration of existing data infrastructures and data services to specific communities in order to build integrated multidisciplinary services for different users and stakeholders. Critically, during the session there will be contributions from scientific fields complementary to solid Earth science, such as marine and space sciences, ICT, HPC and e-science in order to share strategies and visions to tackle the technological challenges and the scientific missions, emphasizing the importance of global data infrastructures .
A particular attention will then be devoted to the efforts needed to provide access to stakeholders not belonging to the scientific community, as well as to disseminate data products of relevance for tackling societal challenges like geo-hazards and geo-resources. The EPOS community plans to promote a stimulating discussion and a debate on the challenge of creating federated data services within and across communities.
